Device Contacts and Electrodes

Metal contacts and transparent conducting electrodes are an essential part in optoelectronic devices, ranging many technological areas like photovoltaic cells, photodiodes, panel displays, touch screen technology, as well as emerging areas such as organic electronics, and new smart sensors. Materials with high conductivity and high transparency in the visible spectral region are desirable and intensive research continues to search for effective material systems that can provide such characteristics. The use of sustainable metals for contacts and electrodes in solar energy technology is also crucial in our aim to drive solar energy generation to the terawatt era. In our lab we explore how to manufacture metal contacts using new production routes, and how tune the electrical characteristics of new transparent conductive materials in a way that we can provide effective and superior alternatives to indium-based oxides.
